Grading and attempt management now available in Content Designer!
We’re pleased to announce our latest upgrade to the Content Designer plugin: seamless grading and attempt management for embedded Questions and H5P elements — now available with full integration into Moodle’s gradebook!

What’s new in Content Designer?
Integrated grading that works the way you do
Course creators can now embed graded interactions directly within their content using Questions or H5P, making mid-content assessments intuitive and engaging. All grades are automatically recorded in the gradebook, supporting custom scales, point-based grading, and multiple attempts. You can even define grade-to-pass values and assign activities to custom gradebook categories for better course organization.

In this case the student has to start the attempt manually.

Smart attempt management
Decide whether learners start their attempt manually or automatically upon entering the activity. The auto-attempt feature ensures that learners can continue where they left off, and a dedicated “Finish Attempt” button in the outro guides them through the process clearly.
Control how many attempts are allowed — from unlimited tries to a set maximum — and select how final grades are calculated: highest, average, first, or last attempt.
Flexible grading types
Choose between point grading or custom Moodle scales, all fully aligned with Moodle’s native grading logic. You can exclude specific elements from grading and define individual question scores via the question bank or directly within H5P.

Completion & tracking built in
Use the new grade-to-pass feature to define success thresholds that trigger activity or course completion — visually represented in the gradebook with color-coded results (green for pass, red for fail). All grades and attempt data are reflected in the activity reports for transparent learner tracking.
