Video plays an important role in many Moodle courses — for teaching, reflection, and collaboration. Media Time helps keep video content organized by allowing you to manage and share videos directly inside Moodle, at site, category or course level.
One practical use case is student video uploads, which make it easy to include learner-generated video content in your course.
Student video uploads at course level
With Media Time, teachers can use role-based permissions to allow students to upload their own videos to the course’s Media Time Library.
Students can:
- Upload local video files directly in the Moodle course
- Add descriptions and tags to their videos
- Share videos with teachers and other course participants
- Delete their own videos when needed
This setup works well for video assignments, presentations, reflection tasks, or peer feedback activities — without relying on external platforms.
A central video library
All videos in a course are collected in the Media Time Library, which is accessible via the Media Time tab in the course navigation.
The library can include:
- Local videos uploaded via the Video Time Resource
- Externally hosted videos from platforms such as Vimeo and Streamio
Regardless of the source, videos are displayed in a single, consistent library view.
Simple organization with tags and descriptions
When uploading videos, users can add descriptions and tags to support basic organization and filtering. This helps keep the library usable, especially in courses with multiple contributors.
Demo course and test uploads
A demo course is available to demonstrate how the Media Time Library works at course level.
For testing purposes, you can enrol yourself in the demo course and upload a video as a student. This allows you to experience the workflow from a learner’s perspective.
