We’re excited to introduce Pulse 2.4, bringing the next step in automation flexibility — with a brand-new Credits system integrated into the automation engine.
In addition to notifications, you can now use Credits as part of your learning workflows to motivate learners, reward progress, and even manage course access when combined with the free Credit Enrolment plugin.
Available with Pulse Pro.

What’s new in Pulse?
Credit display in the top navigation
A user’s current credit balance is now clearly visible in the top navigation bar via a new popover display with a coin icon.
Credits are stored in a dedicated user profile field and can act as a virtual currency within Moodle.
When combined with the free Credit Enrolment plugin, credits can also be used to grant course access — enabling a simple and flexible pay-with-credits model.

New automation action: Credits
The automation engine now supports a Credits Action, alongside the existing Notification Action.
Each action is displayed with a labeled pill and matching icon — a bell for notifications or coins for credits — for quick identification in the automation overview.
The new automation action for credits can be combined with notification actions.
Automated credit distribution
Use Pulse Automations to assign credits automatically — for example, as a daily or weekly reward.
Simply set the credit amount and distribution interval, and choose a base date (either relative to enrollment or a fixed date). You can also target specific user roles such as students or teachers through notification actions.
With the distribution type, you can decide whether credits should be added to existing balances or replaced entirely — perfect for automatically resetting credit scores on a regular basis.
Additionally, notifications can be triggered automatically whenever credits are distributed.
Pro tip for advanced users:
With our Crontab integration, you can schedule credit allocations with maximum flexibility — for instance, on specific weekdays or even at precise times within the hour. The possibilities are virtually unlimited!

Manual credit control
Take full control of user credits with the new manual override view.
Teachers and administrators can now manually adjust users’ credit balances at any time — whether to award extra credits or reset credit scores — without needing permission to edit user profiles.
You can even override upcoming credit automations, making it easy to modify or fine-tune future credit distributions whenever needed.

Credits allocation schedule report
A new Credits allocation schedule report provides a detailed overview of all scheduled and completed credit allocations.
You can view user-specific breakdowns per instance, including information such as course, user, amount, scheduled time, and status.
The report is also available as a custom report through Moodle’s Report Builder, enabling detailed filtering, analysis, and tracking of your credit automation workflows.
